Day 6 - God of Creation

Day 6 - Wednesday, July 25, 2007

We begin each morning at 7AM with our daily devotionals. We have breakfast at Helavee (the place we are staying at) at 8AM. We arrive at the school at about 10AM to being our teaching with the children.

Kio and Suzie teaching arts and crafts.

Here's what they had the children create today, a self portrait using construction paper. Apparently we have a 3rd grader who's sporting a gotee.

For PE, we had the kids play Red Light, Green Light.
When the light turns RED, the children must freeze.
Next, we had the kids play dodgeball.

We were so tired after the first two games that we had the kids run relay races for the last activity.

Each student had to run to the cone and back doing either jumping jacks, running backwards, hoping on one foot, or hoping like a frog.

In this relay, the first team member would run to the cone and back and then grab the second team member and do the same until all 5 team members ran to the cone and back holding hands. I joined the girls team and we won, they were so excited afterwards. One of the highlights of my day.

At around 12, we eat lunch at the school. Here's a pic of the delicious food the school staff prepares each day for us.

After lunch, we head back to the MRI (Marine Research Institute). One of our daily rituals is to apply multiple layers of sunscreen before we head off to the swamp to build the fence.

It's also an opporunity for team members to check email and use the Internet.

Then it's off to build the fence. Today, we applied the barb wire around the concrete posts.

In the surrounding plots of land, water buffalos roam. The barb wire fence is intended to keep these animals out of the hatchery.

Here's Kio digging a hole to plant the concrete posts.

Here's Suzie checking to see if the hole is deep enough.

Here is the finished road that leads to the hatchery site.
At the end of the day, we head to the beach to wash off the dirt/mud.
A pic of the girls enjoying the sunset.
Some of the amazing seashells we found on the beach.

In the sand is written "NSALA Thailand"

Enjoy the sunset. Thank you God for allowing us to enjoy the beauty of your creation. See you tomorrow.
