Super Saturday #3

Here we are entering Craig Park.

This park was huge. Here is everyone dispersing to find a quiet place.

Suzie quieting her heart.

Katie took the train from San Diego to Fullerton. Here is a pic of Katie getting back on the train to San Diego. Thanks for coming out Katie!

For our last Super Saturday with the Newsong NOC Teams, we learned about solitude and silence and how important it is to quiet our hearts so that we can heard God's voice. We went to Craig Park and spent some time quieting our hearts. For me, it was difficult to hear God's voice and I instead spent the time praying for our team.

Fundraising Update

As of this weekend, we have raised $11,981 (or 61% of our goal). Thanks again to all our generous supporters.

Updated Prayer Requests:

1. Kio - Will be starting his new job at the LA County Department of Children and Family Services when he returns from Thailand. Unfortunately, he just found out that he needs to return one week early from Thailand to start his training. Pray that God will intervene and allow him to stay the entire two weeks with our team in Thailand.

2. Please continue to pray for Nan and her family as her dad undergoes surgery to remove the cancer. Pray that God will provide Nan with opportunities to share her faith with her dad and that her dad will be receptive to the Gospel.

3. Please pray for the NOC and Irvine STM Teams who will be leaving for their mission trips this week. Pray for safe travels and that God will use them in mighty ways to the respective countries they will be serving. Pray for the people they will be ministering to and that each team member will experience a life-changing experience.

4. Suzie - Suzie learned that the School District overpaid its employees in the previous month and therefore, she will not be receiving a paycheck next month. Pray that God will help her manage her finances and provide for her needs during the month.

Coffeehouse Fundraiser Night

First, praise GOD for a successful coffeehouse night. Second, thanks to everyone who came out to support us at Casa de Kang. The musicians were simply awesome and we hope everyone had a good time. We had over 100 guests throughout the evening and we raised $1,855 giving us a grand total of $6,605 (or 33.1% of our goal).

Organizing this event required lots of planning and hard work. I think the experience help us grow together as a team. We were so worried about scheduling musicians, getting all the supplies, we even had to change the date of the event...but in the end, God showed us his faithfulness. When we stress, we are essentially doubting God's faithfulness. Thank you God for being Faithful.

This coffeehouse event was more than just raising funds for our team. It was God's way of showing us how blessed we are to have such generous and giving people in our lives. Thanks again to those who traveled from far and near to support us (Thanks to the OC teams and those from Norcal). Thanks to all the musicians who performed, you guys ROCKED. Lastly, thanks Kangster for hosting this event, didn't know your place could hold that many people!

Note: One of our guests left a red, zip-up, hooded Columbia sweatshirt (I think its a size extra small cuz it didn't fit me when I tried it on). If this is yours, please email Wilson at wilsonkpoon@gmail.com or leave a comment on the blog.

We didn't take many pics of the night so if you have any pics or vids you'd like to share, please email them to Wilson. Here are my random pics from the evening:
Our first act, Allen & Gerald. Thanks for playing guys.

Thanks to these two lovely ladies for hosting our event.
Team Picture minus Myles (Thanks for the pic Fred)
Carol, Fred, and Yen Ling from the NOC South Africa team and Jim from the Irvine South Africa team. Thanks for making the trip from the OC.
My old college friend, Karin (from the movie B.L.T.). Thanks for playing K! You are so talented!

My college roomate Benny Mao (www.bennymao.com). Visit his website for upcoming gigs.
As the box reads "Thank you" for all your support. We raised $1,855.

Just a reminder that this Friday, June 8, 2007 is our coffeehouse fundraiser. We are so excited about this event, we have over 6 performers scheduled for the night. Although the evite only shows 40+ people attending, we are estimating over 100 people attending. If you are one of the 60+ people planning to attend, but have yet to respond to the evite, please do so. If you would like to get an evite, please leave a comment on the blog with your email address. Thanks again!
